A new year has arrived. For several years now my New Year's Resolution has been "This year I will write and publish a novel!" Well, once again, that is my New Year's Resolution. Only this time I have a bit of a head start. During NaNoWriMo 2009 I was successful in writing 50,000 words on my novel "Asylum." It still needs a lot of work, but it is a novel none the less. This year, 2010, I want to revise my novel and either submit it to a publishing house, or self publish it.
I am wanting to make a list of goals and check points for myself to help get the job done. The first thing I need to do is go back and read through my car wreck of a first draft. I have not even looked at it since the end of November. For Christmas I got the book "The First Five Pages: A Writer's Guide to Staying Out of the Rejection Pile" by Noah Lukeman. I want to read this book and then read back over my novel a second time with "The First Five Pages" in mind. At that point I will begin revising my book.
I will be sure to keep my progress chronicled here.
Peace and Joy,
Miranda Joy
